What this edition covers
This sheet follows the 2027 documents of the Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institutes of Technology that organise GATE. The GATE score is used for admission, with possible financial assistance, to Master's, Direct Doctoral and Doctoral programs in institutions supported by the Ministry of Education and other Government agencies, and by several Public Sector Undertakings for recruitment.
What changed from the previous cycle
The brochure and the Notifications page say: the syllabi of most test papers are revised; Robotics and Automation (RA) is a new test paper; Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) is now section XE9 of the XE paper; the paper codes of the sectional papers XE, XH and XL are changed (the Test Papers & Syllabus page prints the GATE 2026 code beside each GATE 2027 code). The Notifications page entry of 23 July 2026 asks candidates to note updates on the BT syllabus and the two-paper combinations.
Not announced or unclear in the documents, as of 23 October 2026
Number of 1-mark and 2-mark questions in the subject part of the papers AE to PI (and CY, DA, EY, MA, PH, ST): not stated. Looked in the Question Paper Pattern page and brochure sections 4, 7.3 and Table 8; only the totals are given (65 questions, 10 GA plus 55 subject, 100 marks).
Using the sheet
Add the minutes after each session, leaving out pauses and breaks. Write a date in First pass finished on only when you decide that stage of that unit is done, and add a new row with Round set to 2 for a second pass. On this page you can also tick a unit when you finish its first pass: the date fills in, your ticks stay in this browser, and nothing is sent anywhere. The Excel file adds the totals for you. The full method is in A syllabus tracker that keeps minutes and finished passes apart. Passes after the first have their own sheet: the GATE revision tracker, with the same units and a column for each revision round.
Where the units come from
The units are copied from the documents of the Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institutes of Technology that organise GATE, which the GATE page lists with the date we checked each one. Checked on 23 October 2026. The exam body's current notice is the authority: syllabus units can change, so compare this sheet with it and edit what differs. AspirantGoal is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institutes of Technology that organise GATE or any exam authority.

Questions about the GATE tracker
Is there a free GATE 2027 syllabus tracker as a PDF and an Excel file?
Yes. This page has one row for each of the 43 units in 6 subjects, and the same list to download as Excel, CSV and PDF. The tracker is free, needs no sign-up and carries the AspirantGoal mark in every format.
Where are the GATE units copied from?
From the documents of the Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institutes of Technology that organise GATE, which the GATE page lists with the page or paragraph for each fact. They were checked on 23 October 2026.
Does the GATE syllabus change every year?
It can change whenever the Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institutes of Technology that organise GATE publishes a new notice. This sheet was checked on 23 October 2026, so compare it with the current notice and edit any row that differs. The GATE page says what had and had not been published on that day.
Where is the official syllabus for each paper?
The Test Papers & Syllabus page of the GATE 2027 website links a syllabus PDF for each of the 30 papers, and the Information Brochure prints the syllabi in Appendix D.
