AspirantGoal has no minimum time. It is for any exam or goal, with or without a deadline, and a window of 30, 60 or 90 days works the same way as a longer one. One number changes: the weeks you have. This guide shows the sum that tells you whether your unfinished units fit inside them.
What a short window changes
The method in How many hours does a syllabus take? stays the same: units, your own minutes per unit and a buffer. The size of the syllabus and your pace do not shrink. The weeks do, so a sum that fit in a longer window can come out short in a shorter one, and the result tells you what to adjust.
Step 1: turn the days into weeks
| Days left | Weeks (days ÷ 7) |
|---|---|
| 30 | 4.3 |
| 60 | 8.6 |
| 90 | 12.9 |
Set the exam date in the app and the countdown shows the days left on one line. A goal with phases, such as a Prelims and a Mains, keeps a date and a countdown for each phase.
Step 2: count only the units that are left
Mark the finished units in the syllabus tree and count the rest. The free syllabus trackers list each exam’s units as the exam body prints them. The tree in the app is editable, so you can remove a unit that your paper’s official notice leaves out and add one that it includes. Then put your own minutes on the units that remain: time three of them, or read the minutes from History.
Step 3: compare the hours you need with the hours you can use
- Hours for one pass = units left × minutes per unit ÷ 60.
- Usable hours a week = study hours a week × (100% minus your buffer).
- Weeks needed = hours for one pass ÷ usable hours a week.
Example. These numbers are made up to show the sums. 120 units are left and each takes you 60 minutes, so one pass is 120 × 60 ÷ 60 = 120 hours. You study 15 hours a week and keep a 15% buffer, so you can use 15 × 85% = 12.75 hours a week, and the pass needs 120 ÷ 12.75 = 9.4 weeks. Here it is against the three windows.
| Window | Weeks left | Against the 9.4 weeks needed |
|---|---|---|
| 30 days | 4.3 | 5.1 weeks short |
| 60 days | 8.6 | 0.8 weeks short |
| 90 days | 12.9 | 3.5 weeks to spare |
Nothing here says any syllabus takes this long.
If you plan a second pass over some units, add its hours to the first with the same formula.
Step 4: decide what moves
When the weeks you need are more than the weeks you have, the sum leaves four levers. The choice is yours, and the arithmetic shows what each one costs.
- Fewer units. In the 30-day row you can use 4.3 × 12.75 = 54.8 hours, which covers about 54 of the 120 units at 60 minutes each.
- Fewer minutes on some units. Use a shorter time only for units where your own timing showed that you finish in less.
- More study hours a week. To fit 120 hours into 4.3 weeks you need 120 ÷ 4.3 = about 28 usable hours a week, which is about 33 study hours (28 ÷ 85%).
- A mix of the three. Recompute after each change.
Whatever you choose, change the numbers in the app so that Roadmap, Month and Week show the same plan.
Keep the numbers current
Each week, mark what you finished, carry forward what slipped and read the shortage message on Roadmap. Time three units again after two weeks and replace the old minutes if they changed. Study hours and finished units are separate numbers, so watch both: study hours are not syllabus coverage.
How AspirantGoal handles this
- The countdown shows the days left to the exam date on one line, and each phase of a goal has its own.
- The syllabus tree is editable. Ready templates ship for several exams, listed on the exam pages, and any other exam works as a goal of your own.
- Roadmap compares your targets with the time left at your daily budget and says how many hours short you are when they do not fit.
- Week shows Available time, Assigned time and Buffer. Unfinished work carries forward with its topic, stage and round.
- The Study Timer and the Stopwatch save the minutes you really studied, with pauses and breaks left out, and Subject Progress keeps coverage as a separate number.
- Strict Mode, a Pro feature, keeps only the apps you choose available while you study.
See the Features page for the full list.
What this does not tell you
This page does not say how many hours any exam needs, which units to leave out or what will be asked. It does not predict a result or a rank. The exam body’s current notice is the authority on its syllabus, and AspirantGoal is an independent app with no link to any exam authority.
