Focus and Strict Mode

Focus is where you study with a clock running. The Study Timer counts down and the Study Stopwatch counts up, and both save the exam, subject, topic, stage and round with the session. Strict Mode, a Pro feature, keeps only the apps you choose available while you study.

Four clocks

  • Study Timer. Counts down from a length you set.
  • Study Stopwatch. Counts up until you stop.
  • Quick Timer and Quick Stopwatch. For other activities. They don't count toward subject progress or your streak.

The Study Timer and the Study Stopwatch save the exam, subject, topic, stage and round with the session, so the minutes land on the right row of your syllabus. Pauses and breaks are never counted as study time.

Strict Mode

Strict Mode is a Pro feature for sessions where the phone is the problem. You choose the apps you need during a session. A floating timer stays on top of them, and Timer Lock stops you ending a countdown early.

It needs three Android permissions, and you grant each one yourself:

  • Usage access, so the app can see which app is open.
  • Display over other apps, for the floating timer.
  • Notification access, so Focus can manage alerts during a session.

The app explains each permission before it sends you to Android's settings. You can manage or revoke access there at any time.

Reminders and alarms

Each task can have no reminder, a notification or an alarm. You can add up to four extra notification times, and there are 15 sounds to choose from. The alarm rings for a minute, stays quiet for three and repeats until you dismiss it or start studying. Snooze adds five minutes.

What counts toward your streak

Time from the Study Timer and the Study Stopwatch builds your streak. Quick activities, breaks and manual marks don't. You get four grace uses a month.
