Syllabus Tracking

Syllabus Tracking turns an exam into a tree. A subject opens into main topics, subtopics and points, and each point has its own progress. Every point can carry stages such as self study, practice or revision, and a round counts another pass through one stage.

The syllabus is a tree

A subject opens into main topics, then subtopics, then points. Each point has its own progress. You can add, rename and archive topics, import a syllabus and search it. The sessions and notes you record stay with the topic they belong to.

Stages and rounds

Every topic has stages, the kinds of work you do on it. The stage names follow the exam and the subject, so a template might offer self study, practice questions, past papers and revision, or names of its own. In the UPSC Prelims template they are Foundation, Core Study, PYQ Analysis, MCQ Practice, Revision and Topic Test.

A round is another pass through one stage. Self Study R2 is your second time through self study, and the other stages keep their own count.

Hours and coverage are two numbers

Study time comes from the timer. Coverage is the number of stages you have marked finished, out of the stages that apply. Subject Progress shows planned hours, studied time and coverage for a week, a month, a year or any range you pick. Studied time does not turn into coverage on its own, so a long session cannot pass for a finished topic.

Templates for popular exams

AspirantGoal is for competitive exams, college and university exams, or any goal of your own, with or without a deadline. Ready syllabus templates ship for UPSC Civil Services, UPSC Engineering Services, SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, GATE, UGC NET, NEET UG, JEE Main, JEE Advanced and RRB NTPC. Each one is built from published exam information and you can edit it. Any other exam or goal is set up as your own goal and works the same way.

The exam pages list the structure and the syllabus units as each exam body prints them, with a free tracker you can download.

Mark what you already finished

If you finished a topic before you started using the app, mark that stage done. It records a date and a note and adds no minutes and no invented session.

Questions about this feature

What's a round, and how is it different from a stage?

A stage is a kind of work on a topic, such as self study, practice questions, past papers or revision. The stage names follow the exam and the subject. A round is one more pass through the same stage, so Self Study R2 is your second time through self study. Doing a round again does not count as a new exam attempt.

Can I use my own syllabus?

Yes. Make a goal of your own and type in your topics, or import a syllabus. It plans, times and tracks the same way an exam from the list does.

Does the app check a template against the official syllabus?

No. Templates are editable study aids built from published exam information. Having an exam in the list doesn't mean its template is complete, so compare it with the exam body's own syllabus.

Can I mark a topic I finished before I installed the app?

Yes. You can mark that stage done. It records a date and a note and adds no minutes, so your study time stays what you actually recorded.
